When you have fibromyalgia, there are times when your legs are very painful. Especially if you do to much, the day after and even a few days after, can cause your legs to almost "lock up" from the pain. This happened to me recently.
Let me tell you what my old, fibromyalgia self did that I knew I wasn't suppose to do.
Last Saturday night, my youngest sons band played at a venue in Gainesville. He has 2 bands and the one that played was his Beastie Boys cover band. I love the Beastie Boys, and his tribute band, so I went. I went, I had fun and DANCED. Stupid.
I don't know why I danced...O.K. yes I do...I danced because I love to dance. I was also jumping up and down a lot. This lasted for a good hour and 10 minutes.
I was alright when we got home that night, although I did have a couple of mixed drinks (They help decrease the pain). So, I wasn't feeling the severe pain yet. But when I awoke the next morning, oh boy, the pain was so severe that it brought tears to my eyes.
The muscles in my legs were cramping with severe pain and I couldn't walk without my cane. I knew I had to bring this pain down. I could barely stand it. So, I went to my most trusted home remedies to decrease severe pain in the legs.
The first thing I tried was applying ice to my legs for a good 20 minutes. Usually this works well...not this time. 0( In fact, this time the ice caused my leg pain to increase...making them throb first.
The next home remedy for pain relief that I tried was heat. The heat seemed to work a little, but over-all it didn't do a very good job. It left most of my severe pain in my legs alone. My legs still ached underneath the heat and the spasms didn't go away either.
Stretching was tried also, just like I tried the other home remedies. By this time, I was going through severe leg spasms and joint pain beyond what I had even started with. So, I stopped stretching too.
I wasn't thinking too well because of the fibrofog that had kicked in...it usually does kick in when I am dealing with a pain level as severe as this one. But, I was able to come up with another home remedy for severe leg pain and/or sciatica. I sat in my recliner and put the legs up. Then I had my husband put two of my couch pillows under both my legs, which raised them way up above my heart.
After about 20 minutes, the pain started to come down. When an hour had passed, the pain was almost gone!!! I didn't want to put my feet down and take a chance that the pain would increase again.
I eventually had to put my legs down to go to the bathroom, take a shower r
